MEDIA MIND PAKISTAN’S PREMIER MEDIA LITERACY COURSE
Media Mind has been developed by a dynamic team of top national and international subject matter experts who possess profound knowledge and expertise in this field. Their combined efforts have culminated in a course that not only educates but also empowers young minds in the digital era. The course is meticulously designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of media and its far-reaching impact on society.
Aligned with UNESCO’s composite concept of media and information literacy, which recognizes the primary role of information and media in our everyday lives and underpins freedom of expression and information, Media Mind is structured into three parts. Each segment prioritizes fundamental concepts, practical skills, and critical thinking strategies crucial for responsible engagement with today’s media landscape. This approach contributes to achieving sustainable development goals by emphasizing quality education (SDG 4) and fostering peaceful and inclusive societies (SDG 16).
Part one lays the groundwork for digital literacy and responsible citizenship among children aged 10-13 (grades 5-8). It covers the basics of digital technology, ethics, cyberbullying, identity, and wellness, essential for navigating the digital realm with integrity. Part two is tailored for adolescents aged 14-16 (grades 9-10), imparting practical skills for online self-protection. Topics include online safety, boundary-setting, ad navigation, and legal use of digital content, ensuring students engage with digital media safely and responsibly. Designed for students aged 17-18 (grades 11-12), Part Three elevates critical thinking with advanced topics like information analysis, misinformation combat, and visual media literacy. It refines research skills, challenges media stereotypes, fosters ethical digital relationships, and explores future technological trends for adaptability. Part four, an advanced course for bachelor-level students aged 19-24, enhances comprehension of digital technology and media. Covering ethics, safety, critical thinking, and digital citizenship, it empowers mastery of the digital landscape.
